Max's Select and Select Region Tools

To modify an object or sub-object, it must first be selected. Clicking on the Select tool icon makes it yellow, indicating it is active. The curser can then be used to select objects or sub-objects. To append to the selection, hold down the Ctrl key before selecting the new object. To subtract from the selection, hold down the Alt key before re-clicking on the object. The user can decide what type of objects - such as Geometry, Lights or Cameras - will be enabled for selection during a session. "All" makes all objects selectable. In addition, objects within a certain region can be selected by first positioning the curser, holding down the left mouse button and dragging either a rectangular or a circular boundary around the objects or groups of objects being selected. An irregular boundary can also be clicked around the objects or sub-objects to be selected.
